A few years ago, my employer required me to consent to a background check.  I 
agreed on two conditions: identify the checking service and give me a copy of 
the results.  I would want the same from any community which made a similar 
request  for background check, sex offender registry search,  credit report -- 
any kind of "files" held by others.  Like Carol says below in a different 
context:  if they say no, that is interesting.
