When we form a new circle, either a temporary working group or a more permanent
circle, we describe its goals in our Community Circle meeting and ask for
volunteers. Those volunteers figure out the aims and domains for their circle,
and select people for the roles of leader, notetaker, and sometimes a
facilitator. They report back regularly to the circle above them in our
structure.

Generally people who join initially and find it not a good fit drop out
naturally. Also, the new circle may spot a gap in skills or representation and
go recruit someone. We try for 4-7 people, but don’t turn away extras unless it
becomes impossible to schedule the meetings. We mostly follow the methodology
from Sociocracy For All.
