Here at Wolf Creek Lodge, Grass Valley, CA combining HOA law and Cohousing
perspective is still a work in progress even tho we are soon to be 13 years
since our HOA was established.
We were lucky to have 3 founding members buy a second unit so we could become
an HOA and members could work with a mortgage company. They then sold their
extra units.
As far as abiding by the state Davis Stirling law which changes at the whim of
the legislature and is not entirely relevant to us, that is where the
stickiness is happening in our Community which has caused much angst and panic.

By the way, the Davis Stirling web site is very user friendly if you use the
search option. We recently used the secret ballot information and youtube on
the Corporation Transparency Act.
Amy R has my contact info if you want more info.
Northern California used to have a regional cohousing list serve and even a
meeting once or twice but I have not heard anything for a while.
