When Sean Davey posted that he was selling this home in cohousing and moving to England, some people contacted me off line to ask if the Mosaic software is in danger. I haven’t been in touch with him for months but the move to England began at least 2-3 years ago and is not sudden. He has been supporting and developing Mosaic while he was living in England. I think his house in cohousing was rented for sometime before he put it up for sale. The Mosaic software is so wonderful that it pains me that Sean hasn’t been able to find more people to work on it with him. All the senior villages, for example, could use this software. I agonize over how undeveloped their technology. They are much more staff dependent than cohousing communities. That offers many benefits but raises obstacles as well. It separates communications into pots of money and time. Staff responsibilities and resident activities are not always well coordinated. I think there are at least 5 unintegrated calendars. And 4 telephone directories. It’s a toss up whether having one coordinated directory would be easier than just getting 4 done without coordination. Mosaic would be an incredible solution.
