Re: Meeting attendance and proxies

Our community is not big on silly or cute ways to run meetings, but we do
make the effort to have built-in fun. Sometimes that will take the form of a
silly exercise in the middle of the meeting. But we have a tradition of
humor that has been made a part of the rules. When someone wants to speak
out of turn, they have three options: "point of information", where they
either ask for or give clarification, "point of process", where they can
redirect if they think the process has not been used properly, and
"point of humor", where it is perfectly legal to interject, as long as the
point is funny and makes people laugh. When we institutionalized the humor,
it allowed for the people who have something funny to say a brief time to
say it, while not slowing down the flow of the meeting so much that others
get huffy about getting back on track. It is a great solution.
