This is sort of a thread about community participation. From my experiences 25% of a typical group show up consistently, 50% vary in how much they show up, and 25% show up very little. This seems to be pretty much a normal curve in most all of the cohousing groups I have visited. For example it seems pretty typical that in some households one spouse shows up consistently, while another shows up rarely. They moved her because SHE wanted to live in community and HE wanted to live with her. What I used to tell people, and what I personally live by, is that I only judge myself for my own participation and I don't worry about what other people do. I hold this philosophy because I discovered that my life and circumstances are the only ones I can completely know. This means I am never disappointed either except with myself when I fail to uphold what I want to do. I have also come to learn that there are MANY things people do around my community which are important and valuable and that I do not notice or know about.
