At Cornerstone, we too have the commons-as-residences model, and we generally have the same “rule” about members being present at all common house events involving non-members. But we are currently working on a policy adjustment such that outside groups judged to be sufficiently trustworthy and self-policing would need a member present at the opening and close of their event, but not for the entire duration. As of right now, this exception will apply to just two outside groups, both of which are cohousing formational groups in the early stages of planning and design. Has Takoma ever had experience with anything like this?
