Here in Fair Oaks Eco-housing, we’re entering our second year, and barely making traditions. However. Some monthly and annual events seem to have sticking power. The social committee takes the lead on delivering a Birthday Hoop—a hula hoop crafted with plenty of space to affix cards and notes. This is delivered to the door or the stairwell of members on their birthday along with a reminder the night before of whose birthday we are celebrating. After general meetings we gather for a meal and toast with Cheers & Woahs. This is informal and invites a celebratory short way to share personal and group experiences with all. We stated a Story Telling Event- 6 people have up to 10 minutes to tell a true story about their life based on a monthly theme. This is to help people come together, overcome fixed ideas we develop about one another. Learn about the lives we’ve lived through and build trust. Cynthia Winton-Henry
