I am interested in hearing about actual things that aging-in-place people have done together, for themselves, within multigenerational cohousing communities. For context, the Eno Commons community at large does not seem interested in aging in place concerns. “If you can’t manage here, it’s time to move somewhere else.” But there are several households that either want to stay or can’t afford retirement community costs. Things done: Two households have installed walk-in showers on the first floor. One household has enclosed a porch to make a wheelchair accessible area. One household has installed an EV charging line to a nearby parking spot, and has installed a railing from the car along the sidewalk to their house. Shrubs were trimmed to reduce slippery droppings on the sidewalk. None of this was done by the community, it was old folks helping ourselves, which seems to be the best way to get things done. So, I would be encouraged to hear what others have done to make aging in place more possible in their communities. Thank you. Ed Sutton Eno Commons Durham NC
