We do this!! Gracie is my dog but we only adopted her after speaking with
our next-door neighbors "Jeanne and David" about getting help. We pay the
bills but they are ALWAYS willing to dog-sit which is the kind of support
we needed. Gracie is equally happy in either house and goes over for
sleep-overs often. David and my partner Javier often do the morning walk
together. Jeanne works from home and we sometimes call her to do an
afternoon walk or feed if we're running late or spontaneously want to stay
out longer. It's so great not *having *to always rush home for the dog.
Jeanne and David report that this kind of dog share works really well for
them. They want dog love but after their latest dog passed they weren't up
for getting a new one on their own. It's kind of like grandchildren, "lots
of fun, they go back home eventually."

We wouldn't have adopted a dog if we didn't live in cohousing.

Ruff ruff,
Patti
