As you may be aware, Heartwood Cohousing (rural SW Colorado) is adding 14 new single family homes. We are exploring what kind of pathway to install and would love to hear from you if you have any ideas for us. We are especially interested in hearing from communities that have pathways that work well for them and that meet our criteria. In general, the pathway would serve as an everyday pedestrian pathway with infrequent regular vehicles (cars, vans, pick up trucks) and extremely rare big vehicles (firetrucks, moving trucks). Our Pathway Criteria OK with fire department (11’ wide) durable/low maintenance attractive (fits in with our natural, rural vibe) not muddy when wet reasonably smooth surface for carts, wheelchairs, kids' wheeled toys, etc. (We have gravel roads and parking lots so we are not fully accessible like an urban community might be.) reasonably easy snow removal economical We live in a dry, high desert climate so permeable pavers with grass growing in them probably wouldn’t work here. Thank you in advance for your response.
