With regard to Rob Sandelin's view that community has NOTHING to do with architecture, I'd like to say that, while I understand his view, I think there's also something to be said for contexts which encourage, or are more conducive, to the building of community. Granted that a cohousing community doesn't create community all by itself, nonetheless, it does create more opportunities, puts the challenging of doing so more directly in front of you, makes the failures more obvious.
