>Rob, where you were living, (before Sharingwood) how did it happen in your >old neighborhood? This was how it happened in Denver/Boulder. Really. I saw >it. Before I lived at Sharingwood I lived so far out in the woods that the deer thought we were cousins and used to come over and stick there noses on our windows so we would feed them apples. Before that I lived in Denali and Olympic national parks. Didn't have no garages, never have had one as part of a house I have ever lived in, although this is not because of any particular garage phobia on my part. Currently I live with no garage, my car parks BEHIND my house, my (ahem) front porch overlooks my front garden (we do gardens not yards at my house - so we have a front garden and a back garden). Last night I had a fine dinner gathering on my front porch and no less than 6 of neighbors came by, stopped in to pass a few minutes. I spend a lot of time on my covered front porch, sitting in an old rocker and watching the garden grow and chat with neighbors. I highly recommend both front gardens and porches to sit and look at the plants and flowers grow. Very restful. I also have a small gathering node in my front garden that attracts all manner of small meetings and collections of 4-5 neighbors on a regular basis. Probably subversive though, who know what those neighbors are doing out there, sitting among the flowers, talking laughing, imbibing alcoholic substances (homemade beer).
