Regarding alternate places to discuss cohousing during shut down
of cohousing-L which starts soon and may last a 2-3 weeks:
Barry Krusch suggested USENET newgroups
alt.co-ops OR alt.intentional-community
Alt.co-ops has been had some overlap with cohousing-L
tho has not had much discussion of cohousing that I am aware of;
Jim Kingdon who is active on alt.co-ops did subscribe to cohousing-L
for a while. I think their FAQ has a section on cohousing. Alt.co-ops
had 5 messages from the last 5 days when I checked it and they were all
on topic.
I've never seen the newsgroup alt.intentional-community and
the two news servers I tried did not have the alt.intentional-community
newsgroup tho I did find a reference to "the intentional communities
newsgroup" in a message on the alt.housing.nontrad (see below).
Maybe the best newsgroup would be alt.housing.nontrad .

1.2: Then what is alt.housing.nontrad about?
This group was formed to discuss nontraditional housing. I had
new ideas such as cohousing (see below) in mind when I created
it. The group is meant for discussion of both alternative
_households_ (multigenerational housing, which was once the
norm, multifamily housing with shared recreational spaces, even
Nerd Houses...) and alternative _houses_ (which I didn't have
in mind at first, but I agree they're perfectly relevant to the
group).
When I checked it there were 9 messages posted from the last 5 days tho
about half of them were off topic.
I think I would encourgage using alt.housing.nontrad for cohousing
discussion. If substantial cohousing discussion takes place on these
newsgroups and someone captures it to a file, I would be interesting
in putting it in the cohousing-L archive. Contact me. (In general
Usenet newsgroups are not archived.)
