Now that the construction debris is finally off our garden area, we are eagerly making plans for setting up our community garden next year. We would be very interested in learning how other cohousing groups handle this. Chiefly we are eager for ideas on the way the garden fits into community life. Specifically, What have you found encourages or discourages participation? What equity issues have arisen between gardeners and nongardeners? Do you have individual or communal plots or a mixture? How is the harvest from communal plots distributed (shares to common meals, gardeners, whole community)? How has the process evolved over time and why? Where does funding for the garden come from -- the group? the gardeners? What pitfalls await the naive cohousing group? Kay Wasatch Commons, SLC, UT
