Robin Grunwald <ranrg [at] ufl.edu> is the author of the message below but it was posted by Fred the Cohousing-L list manager: fholson [at] cohousing.org NOTE: Robin is not currently a subscriber to Cohousing-L - please reply to her. Her message includes a survey FOR COMMUNITIES WITH LOW INCOME UNITS (only comm. with such units). I know youall get surveyed repeatedly but this one sounds worthwhile to me so I urge those of you with lower cost units to take a look. I have taken the liberty of adding a question (#0 us mathematicians like lists to have an itme # 0 :). #0 asks explicitly, do you have a low income unit... Robin, we'd very much like to see the compiled survey results for cohousing communities. Robin, are you working with my buddy Maruja at Univ of Florida (who toured Danish cohousing last year also)? Fred To get off Cohousing-L, send email with UNSUBSCRIBE COHOUSING-L in the msg body to: listproc [at] cohousing.org Questions? email Fred - addr above -------------------- FORWARDED MESSAGE FOLLOWS -------------------- My name is Robin Grunwald, I am a grad student at the University of Florida in the Urban & Regional Planning Program specializing in housing and sustainable community development. I am also a VISTA volunteer (US Peace Corps) writing a manual for non-profit organizations on how to step by step develop a sustainable community while I simultaneously develop one. Part of the Appendix and my research is to put together a table of different types of housing communities - that include affordable units within the community - for the reader to use as a contact/reference for elements they may want to include in their community. If your community has any affordable housing units ( affordable being Households in the Very Low to Low Income range - 50% to 80% of the Median Family Income range, i.e.; Alachua County Median Family Income is $42,700 so Households earning between 21k and 34k are in the very low to low range) there are many non-profit organizations that would appreciate whatever information you can share. Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions and add any comments you would like to share. If your community is still in the development stages, please fill out whatever information you can anyway. 0. Does your community has any affordable housing units ( affordable being Households in the Very Low to Low Income range (further def. above)? If so, please complete the following and return to Robin Grunwald <ranrg [at] ufl.edu> 1. How old is your community - please indicate if still in the dev stages 2. What percentage of your community does fall into the above affordable housing category? 3. Is your community urban, suburban, or rural ? 4. Is it single family, multifamily, townhouses, attached, ...? 5. For sale or rentals ? 6. Mixed Use ? (community is not just housing units but commercial and or offices) 7. Are the units clustered ? Courtyards ? 8. Did residents serve as own developers or hire a development company ? 9. Name of development company ? 10. Is there daycare on the premises ? Please add any comments or information you would like included-maybe unique features of the community. Thank you so much for your time and efforts, Robin Grunwald ranrg [at] ufl.edu
