We have 25 households and about 35 adult members, so I don't think your 
numbers are wildly disproportionate to the rest of cohousing. I think there
tend to be alot of single adults, since they are more in "need" of
community, and single parents like the support they get here. (Sometimes
just knowing there are other grown-ups around is so important.)

Also, I think there is another factor that people don't readily see. A group
is not going to say they don't like their size once they have invested alot
in the group. A large group isn't going to say "we wish several of you
weren't here" to each other, even though they might respond to a survey and
say their common house is too institutional. I've noticed that whatever the
size, the people on this list tend to say that they think it is perfect for
them. I don't think group size matters if they have good relationships and a
healthy process. But people could be blinded by idealism when there is a
real problem with a group being too large or small to attain their goals,
like picking a site or affording a common house.
