Here is what I have so far. Yes, I put the ratios backwards but no time to
change them now. Later. Thanks to everyone who has stopped to count and to
figure out ratios. Send yours along and I'll include it.

Adults per household
_ratio_ Units:Adults (children)

_2.17_ 17:37 -- N Street, Davis, CA

_1.65_17:28 -- Village Cohousing, Madison WI

_3.54_ 22:78 ??????-- Sharingwood, ???

_1.67_ 24:40 -- Rosewind, Port Townsend, WA

_1.83_ 24:44 -- New View, Acton MA

_1.32_ 25:33 -- Wasatch Commons, Salt Lake City, UT

_1.4_ 25:35 -- Southside Park, Sacramento, CA

_1.23_ 43:53 -- Takoma Village, DC

_1.59_ 27:43 (34) -- Pathways, Northampton, MA

When I get more numbers I'll put them in a form that is easier to sort by
each of the figures. Sorry I didn't keep numbers of children from the
earlier messages. The number of children I suspect is determined mostly by
the age of the community -- newer ones having fewer.

I think my question is easier to see here. Sharingwood (are those numbers
right????) with 22 units is a considerably larger community than Takoma
Village with 43 units.

On the question of who to count, it seems that the best determiner may be
the number of adults that influence consensus level decisions. Whether the
adults do work hours or own a unit or rent, are probably higher criteria for
belonging to a cohousing community. When someone is active, other members
will respect their opinions/desires on consensus decisions whether they
actually have a vote as an owner/member or not.

And when children reach this level of participation in community decisions,
they would seem to be adults?

Where it is deliciously quiet and peaceful in preparation for a big meeting
to chop the budget in half. Are cookbooks more important than a printer for
the commonhouse office? Is a gas powered generator necessary this year? Will
there be a hurricane that downs the power lines for more than 12 hours?
Should bike owners pay for their own bike racks? All the stuff weekends are
made of in cohousing.
