Since we don't charge per meal its a bit difficult to calculate our cost per meal precisely. We charge a monthly rate per adult and child ($80 per month per adult and $5 per month per year of age child) take in about $2250 per month and have 5 meals per week for 38 people. This calculates to about $2.92 per meal. But that figure is somewhat misleading since that same pot of money pays for both community meals and the "houshold pantry" that people are free to take from for their home use. While we often have a large surplus at the end of each month we are still in an evaluation phase and believe that this will fluctuate somewhat with seasonal prices (e.g. fruits and vegetables are higher priced when not in season).
