At RoseWind, we haven't reduced the number of cars, but we do make use of each other's cars. When furniture needs to be moved, vans or trailers are borrowed. For a dump run from construction, pick up truck gets borrowed. When a car is being repaired, owner gets rides to drop it off and pick it up, and can borrow a car to use when theirs is in the shop. My second car (on hold for my 16-yr-old) has been used for moving, and car-in-shop, also loaned to potential buyers visiting for a week (they had a big RV less suited for local errands). We also carpool to some extent to local concerts, speakers, and other such events, where a number of us are going to the same thing.
