I don't know much about it yet but since the first 'Value Engineering'
cut at Casa Verde Commons (Colorado Springs CoHousing) was the
infrastructure for the shared Telco/Internet/TV that we had planned,
I guess I'll be learning soon enough. Construction start on the first
units and the Common house are about a month away.

I've got it going at home. Generally easy enough to get going but I'm
not really sure of the security. It is supposed to have security to a
level of a wired system but I've seen reports that there are really some
big holes in it. It has been suggested that the streams be encrypted
before being sent to the cards. Apparently drive by break ins are not
that hard to do. There are also some areas of Denver that are using it
for general access. You might check out

I just hope that Sprint does not fight moving my Broadband connection.

They finally started moving dirt on Dec. 17th.

Hi,
I'm part of the Wild Sage Cohousing community due to start construction in Boulder, Colorado in Fall of 2002. We have been looking at options for shared internet access and I've just started researching wireless network (802.11) options. Does any one have any experience in implementing a wireless network in a community for shared internet access?

Apparently it is starting to be used in some subdivisions for sharing internet access and I wondered what particular issues might come up in a cohousing community. We have a fairly dense site (about 34 units on 1.6 acres) so that works to our advantage in that our distances are probably under 300 ft. Any help appreciated. Learn more about our community at http://www.wildsagecohousing.org .
Thanks!
Lon
