It's particularly cruel coming from a community that claims to promote
accessibility. We've got some members who keep insisting that an asthmatic
member, very sensitive to perfumes (not just cologne, but hand lotion,
aftershave, laundry detergent, incense, hair spray ...), come sit inside the
room at community meetings, to "be part of the meeting," instead of sitting
just outside the door, with the exterior door next to her cracked open for
air, where she feels safer. I'm the only one who defends her right to judge
for herself what accommodations she needs, and nobody listens to me since
she's my friend and room-mate.
