>From Racheli Hey Steve, Can I come for a visit? :) On the issue of flexible design: We found that the minute you start allowing variations, prices go up. Flexibility and affordability are often on a collision course. This necessitate looking really carefully at what areas justify allowing variations, and in what areas people could make do. I think that the idea of cooking in the CH kitchen - as a regular thing - is not very practical, unless one lives practically next door to it (which I'm not). There are also limitations since the CH house oven is used, at least part of the time, for common meals. In addition, there might be an issue regarding the fact that the community as a whole pays a part of the electric/gas bills of certain households (I am not saying this is necessarily a problem, but some people might view it as such). I'm all for sharing of resources, but this strikes me as somewhat far-fetched, at least for those of us who make regular use of their oven.
