I see no barriers to handling meals exactly as your community sees fit - to
meet your community needs.

We don't have shift workers but we do go back and forth over the ideal
dinner time. Mostly, whoever wants to cook sets the meal time. We do save
dinners for people who sign up and want a "late plate." We refrigerate them
and people come in and get them when they can.

Subject: [C-L]_Meals For Shift Workers

We are just beginning to explore creating a cohousing community since moving
to Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada. It is a city of 47,000 which serves as
the bedroom community for about 6,000 well paid workers (and their families)
employed at the Tar Sand mines & plants which are north of the city. The
planner at the city wondered how common meals would work for rotating shift
workers. Have other communities had shift workers that wished to
participate according to their schedule? Are any common houses open and
active 24/7? What about preparing extra meals that are then packaged and
stored for reheating later?
