I'm guessing that the category cohousers fit in is more cultural thanpolitical. In particular I'm thinking of the cultural category Paul Rayand Sherry Anderson dubbed "cultural creatives." Having read their book, I certainly identify as a cultural creative myself! Neither conservative nor exactly liberal, we cultural creatives seek a better alternative, a third way, and are proactive about creating it. We care deeply about ecology, community, peace, and spirituality. Check it out if you're interested: http://www.culturalcreatives.org/
Unfortunately, the criteria for being a "cultural creative" is to answer yes to 10 of 18 questions, all of which are rather hard to disagree with, this probably not a very workable way to identify people who may be interested in cohousing.
"Early adopters" may be more helpful -- a marketing term for those who will try new things before the general population will.
"Cultural" is, however, probably a better way to define the characteristics particular to cohousers than "political." In either event it would be helpful to have a definition before we try to fit ourselves into it.
