While I'm not the original poster (merely a lurker contemplating cohousing), I'm willing to say why I want a 50+ community. I prefer adults. Having been a part of groups which planned the accomplishment of shared tasks and group activities with children (toddlers to teens) as an integral part, I simply disliked the chaos. I don't think this preference is discriminatory or is contrary to what cohousing is supposed to be about.
A question for those of you've arranged for capitalization of cohousing ventures: were an originating cohousing group restricted to adults w/no dependent children, would it be much more difficult to arrange financing than if it were non-restricted?
