Re: private amenities vs common resources

A writer asked whether units should have reduced cooking facilities, due
to the availability of common house ovens. This may sound weird, but I
when I'm a cook for a group meal, I often end up doing a bunch of the
cooking in my own home. Days ahead, I start chopping and frying, or
whatever, and find it more convenient than going down to the CH alone,
where I can't simultaneously work on my computer, housework, etc. In
theory, preparing meals together is one more wonderful community
activity, but the reality of our schedules often means that the cook team
is together only for the last hour or two prior to the meal.

On the other hand, I have used the CH convection oven from time to time,
for its virtues relative to my ordinary home oven.

Certainly for our group Thanksgiving type meals, we end up with parts of
the meal cooked all over the project, enlisting more ovens than are
available at the CH.
