You can get a residential fridge that has the freezer on the bottom. I don't
think durability is an issue. Most will last 15-20 years. We also like
having the ice maker for ice water in the summer. It's hot here. We also use
the freezer for certain things we like to keep on hand, like veggie burgers
and wheat-free bread. We have many people on special diets and have just one
or two things in the freezer for them.
