One possibility is to stick with the concrete but use professional kitchen floor mats to make it more foot friendly for cooks, as restaurant kitchens do. Only problem is some extra work in cleaning the mats. We're looking for input about kitchen flooring. We thought we would do an epoxy floor (permanent, power washable, with easy-to-clean coves at the walls) over our concrete slab, but this turns out to be too expensive. So now we're considering everything from vinyl tiles to epoxy-alternatives that come with a lower price tag. What have you done in your community, and how do you like it?
