Hi Caren Your mail made struck a cord with me personally. I have done a fair amount of elder care as a granddaughter of someone with Alzheimer's, had a father with severe heart problems and now have an aunt with congestive heart failure. I often think about what aging in place really means, not just the romantic piece of it either. Our community is busy with the getting built part of the process. However, I am trying to get a discussion going in our own community. I have appreciated some of the ideas already thrown out there. I hear the part about assuming the person who needs the special care goes along long with being cared for, and that is not always the case. However, I am not sure what the solution. When caring for my grandmother I felt I had to do many things she did not want to keep her safe and at home. I often feel frustrated about how we as a society treat our elders. If we come up with any fabulous solutions I will let you know. Kim Shute, MosaicCommons, Berlin, MA www.mosaic-commons.org
