Thank you for your message. I don't know if you are interested in buying something in Berkeley. This is a basic "fixer" house next door to us that will be sold for probably over $500,000 unfortunately. We were just trying to find cooperative people to buy it who would be open to some shared yard space, cooperation, with some aspects of cohousing. If you are interested in living in Berkeley again and want to rent a small place, a great place (to my way of thinking) is "Strawberry Creek Lodge," which is for folks who are over 62 (unfortunately we're too young still), or who are disabled. It is a popular place, and the waiting list is over a year, so if you think you might be interested, call them. They have cooperative dinners and community gardens, and very reasonable rent for Berkeley (about $500 for a large studio, $650 for a one-bedroom, approximately). They also have very lively, educated and talented tenants, who cooperate on cultural events, etc. Although this is a partially HUD sponsored facility, it is privately run and there is no income ceiling. The number there is 510-841-8330. Ask to speak to Lois, the administrator. Good luck in your search as well, Miriam on 8/22/06 4:16 PM, Philip Ralph Grinslade at prgrinslade [at] yahoo.com wrote: > Dear Miriam, > > Thanks for your message about the possibilities of > cohousing in Berkeley.
