 Dear Friends of Cohousing:

We are also interested in the notion of COOPERATIVE NEIGHBORS here in CENTRAL
FLORIDA.

We help with Pet Care & Plant Watering when Neighbors are away.
We also enjoy occassional Shared Meals, etc.

We have a great cooperation on our Block and hope to continue it and deepen it.

We are working toward something here, and we are still in the "Visioning"
Process.

We call ourselves HOLISTIC NEIGHBORS. We are still developing the Core Group
to do the Planning.
We are just neighbors who enjoy lots of what you described. We hope to evolve
further.

WE ARE ACTIVELY RECRUITING FOR OUR CORE GROUP.
WE CALL OURS A "PROCESS ORIENTED-RETROFIT MODEL."
WE ARE LOOKING FOR JUST THE RIGHT PEOPLE!
IT TAKES SOMEONE COMMITTED TO THE COHOUSING LIFESTYLE & WILLING TO INVEST THE
ENERGY IT TAKES TO GROW A GROUP & A RETROFIT VISION.

The only Model we've found close to this is TESCHMEL CREEK COHOUSING, developed
by KAREN HESTER.
On the cohousing.org website there's a Tab on the Left that says, "CREATING
COHOUSING."
If you click that, there's a Tab that says, "RETROFIT COHOUSING." There Karen
Hester DID EXPLAIN how she started to acquire Properties and how TESCHMEL CREEK
COHOUSING evolved, HOWEVER CURRENTLY THAT EXPLANATION SEEMS TO HAVE VANISHED.
MAYBE THE WEBSITE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION or Maintanence.

We really think this is A GREAT MODEL & THAT RETROFIT COHOUSING should become
much more popular!
What do you think?

Please keep in touch. As not too many folks are pursuing this Model!

Would love to talk with you!

Hannah

Subject: [C-L]_ Cooperative neighbors in Berkeley

August 31, 2006

  Dear friends of cohousing:

I am writing because we recently found out that our neighbor in N. Berkeley
is
going to sell his house soon, and we would really like it to be bought by
friendly, cooperative. co-housing oriented neighbors! We envision some
cooperation around outside spaces (plantings), helping each other with pet
care/plant watering when on vacation, possibly occasional shared meals, etc.
We have had this kind of great cooperation with neighbors on this block, and
want to continue and deepen it. There is also a great public elementary
school
with good teachers around the corner, so its a great place for kids. Good
preschool/childcare nearby also.

We would like to work toward a kind of "infill" cohousing idea with shared
yard space, cooperation in other areas, shared meals, etc. There is a
possibility of obtaining another 2-3 units on the block in the near future.

The house is in North Berkeley about 5 blocks from BART, 2 bedroom ("split"
level), 1 1/2 bath, garage, living with fireplace, dining, kitchen updated
about
15 years ago with good storage, laundry room, large sunny back yard. It is a
"cosmetic" fixer, with need for inside/outside painting, some roof work needed,
and really needs a loving hand for landscaping. The price hasn't been
determined yet, but will be in the low $500's - a lot of money, but
unfortunately a "good deal" for this area of Berkeley.

If you are interested, please respond as soon as possible, as the owner will
be listing soon. Please respond to this email address: mirshipp [at]
pacbell.net

  Thank you,

  Miriam
