Katie Henry and CoHo:

Polite is an option, not a requirement.

'Twas not my intention to twist KH's message. Should she care to be specific with regard to just which statement(s) caused her to come to her interpretation and by what logic, I'll be glad to respond. However, I don't know how to respond to rhetorical questions and statements. She has every right to express herself as she wishes, as I presume, I do.

I thought my post was supportive of hers, and positive with regard to unions and CoHo. I still do. I am mystified by her response.

Wayne, you completely twisted the point of my message. (I'm assuming that you're responding to my message about cohousing ideology that started this thread.)

I belong to several associations, both professional and for social/medical
causes. I expect these associations to focus on their mission and not get
derailed by unrelated issues that may or may not be important to some or all of
the association's members. Would I expect the Society for Technical
Communication (my professional association) to work to stop the clubbing of baby seals? Should the Alliance for the Mentally Ill be involved in keeping abortion
legal? Failing to focus on the mission is a good way for an association to
sputter out, lose the support of its members, and become irrelevant. The fact that I feel this way does not mean that I don't have "active sympathy" for union
members.

Also, I have a big problem with the tone of your messages. You keep posting these strange, leading questions about excessive rules and authoritarianism, and using terms like "competition," "entitlement," and "dismissive pity." You seem to be digging for dirt and looking for proof that cohousing is not all warm and fuzzy and wonderful as it's claimed to be. What exactly is your agenda for being
here on Coho-L?

Katie Henry
(former cohouser, so I don't have to be polite any more)
