Muriel — This sounds like a perfectly lovely cohousing community being organized from the ground up by the future residents. They will share chores, at least 1 meal per week, democratically organized, designing the community themselves (w/ the architect!) What part of the article raised flags for you? Of course, I always recommend groups align themselves with a cohousing professional. The article seems to show that the group is working on its own. But maybe the writer just didn’t cover that one issue. Development is complex, expensive and one boo-boo can cause a cascade of issues from which you may not recover. Buy some insurance from the start — work w/ a coho pro. Thanks for alerting me to this group, Muriel! Best — Ann Zabaldo Takoma Village Cohousing Washington, DC Ex. Dir. & Mbr.
