The woman who is the guiding spirit of the proposed cohousing project in Lakeland, Fl has been active in senior cohousing circles for several years, including serving on the board of Sage Senior Cohousing Advocates. She also has strong connections with cohousing professionals, including Charles Durrett and Katie McCamant. Florida has not been fertile ground for cohousing in any form, so putting together a group to develop and eventually live in a cohousing community has been very challenging. She found a group of folks with specific needs for whom cohousing has many benefits…combating loneliness is one. A supportive environment for families with adult children with disabilities seems like a natural for cohousing. Carolyn Salmon Quimper Village Senior Cohousing
