My calendar says that Monday October 6 is Yom Kippur this year. That means that the holiday/holy day begins at sunset on Sunday. Unless the event you are talking about is on Sunday evening, there is no conflict. As for the Sacramento/Davis weekend event sponsored by the Cohousing Association, the main program is all day Saturday, and even the "optional" Sunday segment is over well before sunset, the start of Yom Kippur.
