Last night 15 adults from Rocky Hill Cohousing, a seven-year old inter-generational community in Northampton, MA, met to begin a conversation on aging. The group consisted of our three retired couples and singles and couples mostly on the other side of 50. We raised a broad range of subjects and found the discussion meaningful and fruitful. We plan to continue our conversation. One topic was possible structures to put in place to aid aging folks who need some forms of assistance. As a caring community, we want to be able to help our neighbors in need, at least to the extent we are able. We wondered if other cohousing communities had established such structures, or related policies, procedures, etc.? We would be grateful to hear any cohousing examples addressing the needs of aging folks in a concrete way and what you have done. Thank you. David Entin, davidentin [at] comcast.net.
