Many cohousing communities are set up as condominium associations. Currently, condo associations are excluded from certain FEMA aid in the wake of a disaster. It's typical to require hundreds of thousands of dollars for debris cleanup in the aftermath of a major natural disaster such as an earthquake, tornado, hurricane or flood. For all "normal" neighborhoods, FEMA covers that cost and contracts with companies to provide that debris removal, but they specifically exclude neighborhoods that are part of a condominium association. Please write to your representatives in support of the Disaster Equity Act of 2021, H.R. 5298, which seeks to get condo associations included in the aid that FEMA provides. . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faHHiuzM7gg https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/116/hr5337
