I'm on Finance Team at Riversong Cohousing in Eugene and some questions about babysitting have come up. We would love to know how other cohos might be handling this topic. Right now we have budgeted funds to pay some of the teens and 20-somethings in our community to babysit for our in-person business meetings and a few other community-wide events. 1) One question has to do with liability in case something happens while a member babysitter is in charge? 2) what if we're paying enough that the sitter actually earns $600? How would we handle that tax-wise? Is the sitter then considered a vendor? 3) have any of you created a written policy/community agreement around babysitting that you could share? You can email me off-line: mkamine [at] gmail.com As a PS, we would also love to know what communities are paying their babysitters? Thanks so much! Marjie
