We are dealing with this issue here too. We haven't started regular meals yet so it is all hypothetical. But in addition to the concerns about having people cook who really don't want to (and others having to eat the food--bad karma), the issue for me is what does this mean for other kinds of work in the community? Do people who look at the flowers have to plant them? Do people who pay their condo fees have to do the bookkeeping? Can only people with children provide child care? If someone is working long hours as treasurer, do they also have to cook in order to eat? I _think_ I would rather see all work for the community valued equally. Some will cook more and others will be working in the garden more. Some will be doing computer support and others kid support. Having everyone required to do everything seems a prescription for burnout.
