One post I remember very fondly from this list was from a community where they put out tea and cookies at about the time kids are coming home from school and from then on people gather in the commonhouse for a late afternoon break and to welcome people coming home from work. And to keep the cooks company if they are cooking. It sounded so wonderful. No latch-key kids, a gathering of low intensity, a warm welcome for returning wayfarers.
