Your follow-up thoughts on this issue are provocative and will get me thinking for a few days. >I do volunteer in my town, about 40 hours/week, but I could never be a school board member >without being a parent. Don't know about your local politics. My wife got elected to school board despite violating several of the expectations (in particular, she spent almost nothing). If you're moved to serve in that capacity, why not file your petitions, express your ideas, and give the public a chance to reject you? In my experience, a candidate who distinguishes herself from the field by clearly communicating goals can succeed. (BTW, we did have the benefit of a child in school. But many of our board members don't. Can't vouch, of course, for whether your community could be similar.) _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.communityforum.net/mailman/listinfo/cohousing-l
