It sounds like should talk with other co-ops, not just Cohousing groups,
for insight, as you'll be deal with a financial model that's closer to
that mode of operation. Also local Real Estate professionals about
Tenancy-In-Common (TIC) purchases/ownership. For a group that small, you
really have to put a lot of effort into getting the right people who can
work well with one another, building close relationships and clear
agreements about lots of little things, and being ready to do it all over
again when someone moves out.

Try the Fellowship for Intentional Community - www.ic.org .

As for looking for properties... talk to local professionals, cohousing
groups, everyone.
Get a clear set of criteria.

Talk with Karen Hester of Cohousing Consultants.. while her focus is in
the Oakland / Berkeley area, she's the one professional I know of that
specializes in this type of model. She lives at Temescal Creek coho, an
organic/"retrofit" project that's not too far from what you're seeking,
although on a broader scale.

The Cohousing Network maintains a database of people looking for
Cohousing. Start with the existing groups there... I believe there's a
"retrofit" group in Seattle.

If your group is getting serious on its own, I'd highly recommend
joining to get access to our info on "seekers" who have okayed sharing
their info with you... and by posting ads in the Cohousing Journal and
our website, plus in local places, organizing meetings, and whatnot, you
can probably find quite a few.
