Hi - I was taught formal consensus secondhand, by Eno Commons facilitators who attended the Butler training, then came back and trained the community to use the process. The way we practiced it, the consensus process did include an important time for expressing "pros" about a proposal. This was done right after the first reading of the proposal and basic clarifying questions. The very next step was to spend time as a group describing how the proposal met the needs/vision/values of the group. If the group agreed that the proposal had merit, then the group took "ownership" of the proposal and went on to express concerns and hone it. If Christine Della Maggiora is out there (Hi!), she can probably explain this better than I - she's who taught it to me. -Jessie Handforth Kome formerly of Eno Commons Cohousing now of Eastern Village Cohousing Silver Spring, MD www.easternvillage.org _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L
