re: cohousing and resale

I would think that the opposite would hold true: that a cohousing community with no waitlist policy would become less desirable over time because people with no interest in working together as part of a community would simply buy the unit for it common amenities and the spirit of group cooperation would be lost over time.

Also, are there any groups out there that insist that the buyer come from the waitlist even if they cannot meet the seller's price? What has been the experience of other cohousing groups out there over time both with and without waitlists?
