Dear Becky Weaver:Thank you for your response. I think you are pointing the way to a more rewarding way of dealing with authoritarian types who are more likely to be abrupt and lay down the law than to try to understand my concerns.
If I ask them politely if they could work with me to resolve my concerns, they might be less hostile to my questioning their wisdom. In my observations, these types of people get very impatient and uncomfortable when somebody starts examining their ideas in detail. If I assure them that my purpose is not to challenge them, but to try to understand their reasoning and purposes, I just might be able to crack through their hard shell.
Anyway you have written words of wisdom, and I will try to incorporate them into my thinking.
