Cohousing-L Mailing List: Washington State Condo Law updates

Duwamish Cohousing in Seattle was formed in 1999 and is organized under the
state condo law at that time. The founders made an effort to map the
consensus cohousing model onto legal requirements (e.g. our Board of
Directors consists of all residents). There was a major rewrite to the
state law in 2018 but older developments like us were grandfathered in so
we ignored it. This year the legislature passed a new condo law, intended
to make practices highly uniform statewide, and becoming retroactive on us
in a few years (no more "grandfathering").

I am just starting to wrap my head around this and I would like to reach
out to other cohousers (and other intentional communities) in Washington
State who are processing what this means.
