This is a request from Eastern Village member Rachel Lettre:

Are there any co-housing communities out there that have a trash chute
installed in their buildings?  Eastern Village will have 55 households in a
4 story condo building.  The developer currently has a trash chute drawn
into the plans and we are questioning the necessity of this.  Many of us
view this as a huge expense and longterm maintainance issue.  There will be
a trash room on the 1st floor regardless.   We are considering other methods
of trash/recycling collection and would like any input.
