Re: Trash Chutes

When I was in college, one form of entertainment was to go (late at night usually) to the top floor in a tall apartment complex where many students lived and slide down the garbage chute. Pretty gross, thinking back now, but it was a sort of rite-of-passage and was not done with a clear head. Hopefully kids (and adults) in cohousing would know better :)

I can see the convenience of a trash chute; however, what about recycling? If there is a chute for trash but you have to schlep recycling downstairs, that would seem to discourage recycling, which would Not be A Good Thing. Can there be a recycling chute alongside??? (Being a suburban California girl who's never lived in a building more than two stories tall, I have absolutely no experience with chutes whatsoever.)
