My experience talking about dietary issues, esp. when it comes to meat-eating vs. vegetarianism, is that talking about religion or politics is safer. I have learned there are studies to back up every view point and people can get very testy, esp. when they're feeding their children too. If people avoid assuming their eating style is superior and pushing that, then it's ok. I am part of an (online) group that permanently fractured because of this.
